How to request indexing of a page in Google Search Console
When you publish or substantially update a page, you can ask Google to crawl it sooner with the URL Inspection tool. It speeds up crawling; it doesn't guarantee indexing.
Step by step
- 1Paste the full URL into the "Inspect any URL" bar at the top of Search Console and press Enter.
- 2Wait for the result. If it says "URL is not on Google", click Test live URL first to check Google can load it.
- 3Click Request indexing. Google runs a quick live test and adds the URL to a priority crawl queue.
- 4Come back in a few days and inspect the URL again to see whether it was indexed.
Good to know
- There is a daily quota per property: save it for pages that matter.
- Requesting the same unchanged page again does nothing.
- For many URLs, submit or update the sitemap instead.
- If Google keeps declining it, see "Crawled – currently not indexed".
