How to use regex filters in Google Search Console
Regular expressions let you filter the Performance report by patterns: all question searches, everything except your brand, or several URL sections at once.
Step by step
- 1Open Performance → Search results.
- 2Click Add filter (or + New) and choose Query or Page.
- 3Open the dropdown and select Custom (regex).
- 4Choose "Matches regex" or "Doesn't match regex", paste your expression and click Apply.
Good to know
- Search Console uses RE2 syntax: no lookaheads or backreferences.
- Add (?i) at the start to ignore case.
- To see non-brand traffic, use "Doesn't match regex" with your brand and its misspellings.
- Our free regex generator builds and tests these expressions for you.
