How to find pages with low CTR in Google Search Console
Pages that rank on page one but get few clicks are the cheapest SEO win: fixing the title and description can double traffic without moving a position.
Step by step
- 1In Performance → Search results, tick Average CTR and Average position at the top.
- 2Open the Queries tab and add a filter for position smaller than 10 (Filter rows → Position).
- 3Sort by Impressions and look for queries whose CTR is far below what their position should earn.
- 4Click the query, open the Pages tab to see which page ranks, and rewrite its title and meta description around that query.
Good to know
- Exclude brand queries first: their CTR is always high.
- Use the expected CTR calculator to know what "low" means for each position.
- Preview the new snippet before publishing to avoid truncation.
