hreflang tag generator
List each language or country version of a page. Get the tags for the <head> or your XML sitemap, checked for the mistakes that make Google ignore them.
HTML (in the <head> of every version)
XML sitemap (inside <urlset> with the xhtml namespace)
The hreflang rules that matter
- Language first:
esores-MX, nevermxalone. "uk" means Ukrainian; the United Kingdom isen-GB. - Return links: every version must list all the others and itself. If page A points to B but B doesn't point back, Google ignores the pair.
- Canonical URLs only: each hreflang URL should return 200 and be its own canonical. Pointing to redirects or noindexed pages breaks the set.
- x-default: the page for everyone else, often a language selector or the main version.
